Ortega v. Sierra Gold
Attorneys Adam Shea and Spencer Lucas recently reached a settlement in the matter of Danny Ortega v. Sierra Gold in the amount of $1,700,000 for a injured cyclist that was struck by a landscape truck and suffered a wrist injury, and mild traumatic brain injury. The matter was venued in Yuba City Sutter Couty and is believed to be one of the largest settlements in this venue. Mr. Ortega was riding his bicycle on a country highway in Yuba City at dusk wearing dark colors and using his headphones. The defendant turned left in front of Mr. Ortega and claimed he did not see Mr. Ortega because he was wearing dark colors and did not have a light on his bike. The defense also claimed that Mr. Ortega violated the Vehicle Code by wearing headphones while cycling. Panish Shea & Boyle used cutting edge accident reconstruction to establish that the collision was due to the fault of the driver of the landscape truck.
