Panish Shea & Boyle LLP Among Featured Speakers at 55th Annual CAOC Convention

Panish Shea & Boyle LLP attorneys and staff are among the featured speakers and award finalists at The 55th Annual Consumer Attorneys of California Convention held in San Francisco this upcoming weekend. The distinguished event begins Thursday, November 10 with the New Lawyers Division and Women’s Caucus Community Service at the San Francisco Food Bank and concludes on Sunday, November 13 at the Palace Hotel following two days of speaker sessions.

On Friday, PSB paralegal Cesar R. Garcia will provide valuable information to legal assistants, paralegals and lawyers as a panelist during the 1:30 p.m. session entitled, “Case Management: A Paralegal’s Perspective.” The session will be moderated by Darren Kelley with Cotchett, Petre & McCarthy LLP and additional panelists include Christina Ayala and Daniela Martinez with Dolan Law Firm, PC.

rahul-bio-picOn Saturday, Panish Shea & Boyle LLP partner Rahul Ravipudi will discuss “Getting To The Other Side: Dangerous Crosswalks” during the Government Liability/Dangerous Conditions session beginning at 1:30 p.m. Other topics explored during this session include “9 Pitfalls To Avoid When Suing A Public Entity” by James Lewis with Taylor & Ring as well as “Trying A Public Entity Case” by Thomas J. Brandi with The Brandi Law Firm.

PSB attorney Deborah Chang will also be a featured speaker on Saturday during a 1:30 p.m. session entitled, “Masters: Trial Skills Every Lawyer Should Have.” Debbie PicMs. Chang will discuss “Distilling Your Case And Motivating The Jurors.” The session will be moderated by Amanda L. Riddle with Corey, Luzaich, de Ghetaldi, Nastari & Riddle LLP and will include additional topics such as “Effective Voir Dire” by John H. Gomez with Gomez Trial Attorneys, “Structuring Effective Direct And Cross Examinations” by Cynthia McGuinn with Rouda, Feder, Tietjen & McGuinn and “Using Analogies And Stories” by Michael A. Kelly with Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger.

Consumer Attorney of the Year finalists and PSB attorneys Rahul Ravipudi, Deborah Chang, Thomas A. Schultz and Matthew J. Stumpf will be recognized on Saturday night at the Annual Installation and Awards Dinner for their work on Jun v. Chaffey Joint Union High School District. This team of attorneys obtained a $20,500,000 jury verdict for the mother of a high school student who was killed while walking to a bus stop in Fontana, California. The verdict followed the trial court’s finding that the District hid evidence in an attempt to avoid responsibility for the tragic collision.
