Millions Of Pound Of Meat Recalled By Petaluma Firm Over Illness Risk

Posted on February 10, 2014

Millions of pounds of meat are being recalled by the Petaluma, California-based Rancho Feeding Corporation because the various products could have been produced using meat from unsound or diseased livestock.  A whopping 8,742,700 pounds of meat are impacted, including such products as Beef Lips, Beef Cheeks, Veal Bones, Sweet Breads, and more.  These products and the facilities they came from also did not receive proper inspection.  Persons who come into contact with the various meats being recalled could sustain an illness, and although no such situations have reportedly happened yet, the risk is sufficient to have prompted a Class 1 recall.  The products should not be consumed and suspected illness should prompt immediate contact with a doctor.
