1,700 Personal Emergency Response Kits Recalled Over Failure Risk

Posted on February 12, 2014

1,700 Personal Emergency Response Kits are being recalled by the Westford, Massachusetts-based Visonic because of the potential failure of the devices when called upon during an emergency.  The Visonic Amber SelectX products work by way of allowing a user to press a button on a pendant to alert the proper persons when an emergency occurs.  Unfortunately, this operation can be disabled after the system is reset or rebooted.  Thankfully, there haven’t been any injurious or fatal incidents yet reported.  Owners are being asked to get in touch with whoever installed their system to get the issue corrected at once.  These alarms were available around the country between April 2012 and April of last year.
