Safety Fears Prompt CHP Action Against LA Bus Operator

Posted on January 7, 2014

A bus company called Double Hi Express, which is based in Los Angeles, may face a shutdown if it is unable to correct alleged safety issues uncovered by the California Highway Patrol in a recent investigation.  Those alleged problems are explored in a new report, which looks at what the CHP was able to find out after raiding the operator’s facilities.  The CHP indicates that drivers for the company were working hours that went beyond what is allowed and that various types of maintenance issues went unfixed by the company.  The company is being asked to correct those problems.

Tour buses have been in the spotlight as of late, especially on the heels of numerous operators being shut down across the country as part of an increased emphasis on safety by federal and local officials.  If you’re riding on such a vehicle, conduct your due diligence.
