Door Jamming Issue Leads to Recall Of 38,434 Skyline Trailers

Posted on January 8, 2014

Tens of thousands of additional trailers are being recalled because of an issue with door locks from Fastec that have already led to a number of recalls over the past few weeks and months.  This recall was announced by Skyline Corporation and affects fifth-wheel trailers and recreational vehicle travel trailers of the 2006 through 2013 model years.  38,434 such vehicles are affected by an issue that could see the deadbolts in the trailers being jammed, something that would cause persons inside to potentially be trapped there with no recourse but to use the emergency exit.  Given the increased injury threat this would pose, the recall was issued, and owners can expect to hear from Skyline starting in February.  Free inspections and replacements will then be carried out at no cost to owners.
