Posted on January 15, 2014

Assorted types of meat that could have been made available at various retailers and distribution facilities throughout California are being recalled because the items in question were not inspected properly by federal officials.  The recall was announced by the Petaluma-based Rancho Feeding Corporation and affects Beef Oxtail, Feet, Cheeks, Tripe, Tongue, Carcasses, Liver, and Hearts.  Without the proper inspection, consumers cannot receive assurances that a product is safe to eat.  41,683 pounds of meat are affected by the recall, and the various items were made on January 8 and can be identified by their case code of ON904 and establishment number of 527.  Thankfully, there have been no illnesses reported in conjunction with these products.
