Crash Risk Leads to Recall of 667 Zero Motorcycles

Posted on January 10, 2014

S, FX, DS, and SU motorcycles of the 2012 and 2013 model years are being recalled by Zero Motorcycles because of an issue that could prohibit the motorcycle from being able to draw power.  667 motorcycles are thought to be affected by the recall, which was issued upon the discovery that system faults could cause the firmware installed in the vehicles to turn off the motor.  When that happens unexpectedly in the midst of traffic, the rider could find himself or herself unable to properly navigate, the situation thus exacerbating the threat of a crash.  The recall should start soon, and when it does, Zero intends to get in touch with affected parties.  Those persons will then be able to get a firmware update from dealers at no cost.
