Marketing Claims Lead to Recall Of Water Filters From Nephros

Posted on January 7, 2014

A recall has been issued on a water filtration product because the Food and Drug Administration is concerned that the claims made in promotional materials are inappropriate, as they could be construed as making it sound like the system is a medical product, which it is not.  The recall hails from Nephros and affects In-Line In-Line Dual Stage Ultra Filters.  These filters can get rid of potential water contaminants so that the water is safer to drink, but they should not be considered a complete water treatment system.  The products were available around the country between the beginning of 2011 and this past October, and owners are being asked to get rid of marketing materials.  Adversity should be reported to the FDA.
