San Diego City Council Launches Campaign To Reduce Fire Threats

Posted on December 6, 2013

Yesterday, we related how UC San Diego was launching an effort geared toward reducing accidents attributed to distracted driving within the city, and now the City Council of San Diego is doing their part to reduce accidents related to home fires.  They have partnered with the Burn Institute for an annual safety campaign that offers tips that could be actionable anywhere.  Citizens who have fireplaces are advised to clean the flue prior to lighting a fire and to ensure that that fire is only composed of wood rather than other types of refuse.  Rather than decorate your home with candles, consider investing in LED lights that don’t pose the same fire risk.  And finally, consider gifting carbon monoxide detectors or smoke alarms to those elderly loved ones who may not have them in their homes.
