26,310 Vehicles Recalled By Daimler Trucks Over Seatbelt Issue

Posted on December 26, 2013

A seatbelt issue has prompted the recall of numerous vehicles of the 2014 model year by Daimler Trucks North America.  The recall affects Argosy, Coronado, M2 Business Class, Cascadia, Western Star 4900, 6900, 4700, and Freightliner 122SD, 114SD, and 108SD vehicles.  A total of 26,310 vehicles could be impacted by an issue that would see the L9 seat belt buckles of the IMMI brand get engaged with the belt’s latch plates when the user attempts to release themselves from the belt.  Because this could delay an individual from getting out of the vehicle should an emergency take place, thus creating an injury risk, the vehicles are out of compliance with federal regulations.  Owners should hear from Daimler once the recall starts in late January.  Free repairs can then be sought from dealers.
