Take Precautions When Your Child Is In A Shopping Cart

Posted on

There’s no doubt that, as grocery and gift shopping kick into gear for the holidays, many parents are going to be taking their children with them on their errands.  Many will place their kids in a shopping cart, but when this occurs, the utmost caution needs to be taken.  A new report offers some safety tips from Safe Kids Kansas focused on this very topic.

If your child is going to ride in the cart, he or she must be placed in the appropriate place.    They should be seated the entire time that you’re doing your shopping, and you should strive to ensure this by attaching the available belt buckle that should be found on the cart.

What you don’t want to do is simply let your child stand or sit wherever they feel like in the cart.  When a child is allowed to climb all over the cart, there’s a much greater chance that he or she could slip off and succumb to an injury.

When your child is in the cart, you have to be watching them at all times, even if they’re in the seat section and are buckled in.  Kids can be quite clever when they need to be, and a seatbelt may not always be enough to keep them in place.

By following these precautions, you can hopefully protect your kids from a dangerous situation.
