Fall Threat Leads Bicycle Part To Be Recalled By SRAM

Posted on December 4, 2013

WiFli Rear Derailleurs are being recalled by the Chicago, Illinois-based SRAM because of a possible fall risk posed to riders.  The recall affects around 1,700 SRAM RED items that are designed to allow for the movement of gears on a bicycle chain.  On these particular products, loosening or full dislodging of the rear pivot pin are possibilities, and when those situations occur, jamming or wheel interference could result.  Either problem could throw a person from the bike or cause them to crash.  One person has reported experiencing minor injuries and 42 additional incidents without injury have also come to the fore.  The products were sold across the country between September 2012 and last month.  A replacement product should be sought from the place of purchase.
