Refrigerator Freezers Recalled By Viking Range Over Fire Threat

Posted on November 20, 2013

48- and 42-inch tall refrigerator freezers are being recalled by the Greenwood, Mississippi-based Viking Range because of a possible fire hazard.  The recall pertains to around 750 units that have a freezer positioned next to a refrigerator.  Overheating of these units’ electrical connectors is a possibility, and when that happens, a fire could break out.  Four reports of a blaze have come to the fore along with 27 electrical short incidents, although there have thankfully not been any injuries associated with those.  The company is asking that owners unplug the refrigerators and get in touch with them to set up free repairs.  These items were available across the country between November of last year and May of this year.
