CHP Hopes to Reduce Collisions Over Long Thanksgiving Weekend

Posted on November 26, 2013

In a bid to minimize the potential for motor vehicle accidents throughout the long holiday weekend, the California Highway Patrol plans to enact a series of enforcement efforts that will extend from tomorrow all the way through to Thanksgiving and the close of the weekend.  The first such campaign is the Interstate 5 Challenge, and true to its name, the effort will involve officers keeping a close eye on the Interstate 5 corridor running through California.  A similar ongoing campaign will be carried out called the I-40 Challenge.  These campaigns seek to crack down on those behaviors that so often lead to injurious or fatal collisions along California roads.  Those actions include speeding, drinking, and a lack of seatbelt usage.
