Over 4,000 Buses Recalled By NABI Because Of Possible Fire Risk

Posted on November 1, 2013

Numerous types of buses are being recalled by North American Bus Industries because of a safety issue associated with the Sure Power battery equalizers onboard.  The recall affects CLFW, Blue Bird L4RE, BRT, Optima Opus, and LFW buses of various model years ranging from 2000 to 2011 depending on the type of bus.  The aforementioned equalizers have a potting compound that could potentially conduct electricity in certain high heat situations.  This could lead to melting and subsequent burning, placing the bus in danger of a fire.  Once the recall starts this months, owners who hear from NABI will be able to get free replacement components from a dealer.  More than 4,000 vehicles are impacted.
