4,150 Trailercycles Recalled By Burley Design For Child Safety Issue

Posted on November 27, 2013

The Eugene, Oregon-based Burley Design has announced the recall of Tailwind Racks that are designed to allow an adult to connect a trailer-type children’s cycle to their own full-sized bike.  The recall pertains to 4,150 trailercycles of the Piccolo and Kazoo brands.  Unfortunately, the component that is supposed to connect the two bikes is in danger of failing, causing the children’s cycle to veer away, creating an increased injury risk for the child rider.  11 instances of a breakage, some of which reportedly led to an injury, have come to the fore at this point.  In order to protect children, owners are being asked to get a new connector rack from the company.  The items were sold from November 2011 to this past September.
