91,559 Jeep Grand Cherokees Recalled By Chrysler Over Crash Risks

Posted on November 7, 2013

91,559 Jeep Grand Cherokees of the 2014 model year are being recalled by the Chrysler Group because of two situations that could each trigger a crash.  Loosened alternator ground wires and computer communication disruption can combine to lead to such dangerous circumstances as dashboard warning lights suddenly coming on, a lack of illumination in the cluster lights, and an inability of the electronic stability control or the antilock brake system to operate.  The dashboard display issue makes it difficult for a driver to determine when a real threat is imminent, while the lack of ESC or ABS would hinder an operator’s ability to navigate.  Either situation could contribute to a crash.  Once the recall begins this month, owners will be able to gain free repairs from dealers.
