Allergen Risk Leads to Recall of Southwest Salads From Trader Joe’s

Posted on November 1, 2013

Southwest Salads that were only sold at Trader Joe’s retailers in California and five other states are being recalled because of a possible undeclared allergen hazard.  The recall was initiated by the Fontana, California-based World Class Distribution after the wrong label was identified on the bottom of a sample of the affected lot.  The false label fails to outline the presence of soy, and thus persons allergic to that substance could be subject to a potential reaction.  No one has reported such an incident at this point.  To continue that trend, owners of the 1,861 affected nine ounce salads with tomorrow as a Use By Date should refrain from consumption if concerned about the hazard.  The items can be brought in to Trader Joe’s by those looking to get their money back.
