Airbag Safety Issue Leads to Recall of 2,310 Nissan Pathfinders

Posted on October 31, 2013

Pathfinder vehicles of the 2013 model year are being recalled by Nissan North America due to a potential safety issue involving the airbags.  2,310 vehicles are potentially impacted, and those vehicles will each have an Almond interior.  The passenger’s side airbag could fail to go off as it’s supposed to during a crash due to the lack of an appropriate tear seam on the instrument panel on that side.  Were this to occur, the occupant of that seat may fail to receive adequate protection during a crash, and this recall was thus deemed necessary.  Once the recall starts next month, owners will start hearing from Nissan about the issue.  The vehicles can be brought in to a dealer for repairs that won’t cost the owners anything.
