Braking Issue Prompts Recall of 76,191 BMW Vehicles

Posted on October 30, 2013

Numerous types of vehicles of the 2012 through 2014 model years are being recalled by BMW of North America due to a possible braking problem that may contribute to a crash.  The recall affects 320i, 320i xDrive, 328i, 328i xDrive, 328i xDrive Sports Wagons, X1 sDrive28i, Z4 sDrive28i, 528i, and 528i xDrive automobiles.  Around 76,191 vehicles in total are thought to be impacted.  A lubrication problem could lead to the potential failure of a vacuum pump that assists with braking.  When this component fails, it may take longer to bring the vehicle to a stop.  The increased stopping distance could then lead to an accident.  Once the recall starts next month, owners will hear from BMW about the issue.  When owners bring the vehicles in to a dealer, they will be able to obtain free repairs.
