3,161 Chevy Cruze Vehicles Recalled By GM Due to Crash Hazard

Posted on October 30, 2013

Chevy Cruze automobiles of the 2013 and 2014 model years are being recalled by General Motors.  3,161 vehicles are impacted by the recall, and each will have a manual transmission.  The recall was initiated once it was discovered that fracturing and separation can occur in the right front half shaft.  When this takes place while in transit, power to the vehicle would be cut and the driver would be forced to bring the vehicle to a halt.  If parked when separation takes place, the automobile could roll away.  Either situation could create a crash hazard.  The recall started a couple weeks ago, so owners should be on the lookout for a notification from GM if they haven’t received such already.  New half shaft assemblies will be provided by dealers at no cost.
