Obstacle Detection The Goal of Santa Barbara Company

A new report takes a look at the creation of an active safety system designed to detect wildlife.  The headquarters of the company responsible for the technology, Autolive Electronics Night Vision, is in Santa Barbara, California, and to see the system in action, the Santa Barbara Independent got to take a parking lot test drive.  That test revealed the system’s ability to detect a deer even from far away.  This is the latest advancement for the technology, which was rolled out in 2005 but then progressed to pedestrian detection a few years later.  This is the first version to be able to identify wildlife.  Although the system is currently only available in brand new models of the Mercedes S-Class, the company notes that it will be placed in other vehicles very soon.
