LAPD Enforces Pedestrian Safety In San Fernando Valley Operation

Posted on October 10, 2013

Yesterday, the Los Angeles Police Department carried out an enforcement effort designed to target those actions that could contribute to a pedestrian fatality or injury in the San Fernando Valley.  One pedestrian and 29 drivers in total received a ticket during the operation, which saw undercover officers crossing the street as drivers approached, keeping tabs on those automobile operators who disobeyed the law and nearly struck them and others.  The officers are attempting to reduce pedestrian fatalities in the area, as such incidents have risen by 18% in 2013.  The effort also hopes to emphasize the need for drivers and pedestrians throughout the area to obey the law.  Pedestrians are being told that they’re allowed to cross when they get a signal but to always keep tabs on automobile operators who don’t see them.
