Ondansetron, Metoclopramide Injections Recalled Over Particulate Risk

Posted on October 2, 2013

Ondansetron Injections and Metoclopramide Injections are being recalled from across the country because of the potential presence of glass particulates within the products.  Two lots of the former and one of the latter are impacted by the recall, and they would have been sent to medical facilities and pharmacies around the country between this past June and September.  No one has reported an illness or any type of adverse health consequence in relation to this possible defect, but if the strands of glass reportedly discovered attached to the interior portion of the vial were to enter a person’s system, that individual could suffer an embolism, internal organ damage, and various other health risks.  Hospira, who issued the recall, is asking that the products be quarantined and not given to patients.
