Botulism Threat Prompts Recall Of Smoked Fish By Big Blue Fisheries

Posted on October 1, 2013

A variety of smoked fish are being recalled by the Sitka, Alaska-based Big Blue Fisheries due to a potential Botulism threat posed by the products.  The recall pertains to King Salmon, Salmon Filet, Salmon Bellies, Black Cod, and a variety pack that includes multiple types of smoked fish.  The recall affects all those products with a pack date between September 24, 2011 and 2013 that were available across the country.  Improper cooking is reportedly to blame for the threat.  Persons who experience botulism could face double vision, weakness, constipation, breathing issues, and other issues that could even prove fatal.  The company is asking that consumers toss the items or bring them back to where they were bought.
