Report Highlights Lack Of Protection Offered By Vehicle Pet Harnesses

Posted on September 18, 2013

A new report warns pet owners about the relative lack of security offered by many vehicle pet harnesses on the market.  Even as National Child Passenger Safety Week is observed, it’s important to remember the safety of animals as well, especially considering that a failed harness could have an impact on human occupant safety.  Testing of harnesses was recently carried out by the Center for Pet Safety, and the agency found that claims about crash testing often fail to note that those crash tests end with the harnesses breaking during a collision.  One veterinarian notes that harnesses and kennels are still better than nothing at all.  Persons in the market for a safety device should conduct their research to see how it fares in terms of crash safety.
