Choking and Laceration Risks Prompt Recall of 70,000 Kids’ Books

Posted on September 12, 2013

Two children’s books are being recalled by the New York City-based Hachette Book Group because of potential choking and laceration hazards posed.  The recall pertains to around 70,000 copies of “Red, Green, Blue, I Love You” and “Count My Kisses, 1, 2, 3” available across the United States and Canada at various book stores and retailers from this past June to August.  These books have a small metal rod responsible for keeping a set of beads in place, but this handle can detach, sending the beads scattering.  A child could then choke on the beads, or the metal rod itself could lacerate a child.  No such incidents have been reported, and to ensure that continues, owners should remove the books from a child’s possession and bring them back for a refund.
