614,722 Toyota Siennas Recalled Due To Risk Of Rolling Away

Posted on September 30, 2013

A whopping 614,722 Sienna automobiles of the 2004 through 2005 and 2007 through 2009 model years are being recalled by Toyota due to a safety issues associated with the shift lock solenoid.  There’s a chance that a defect could lead the vehicle to be taken out of the Park position without the driver pressing the brakes at the same time.  At that point, the automobile could then go into Neutral or Drive mode, and if the driver is not expecting that, the vehicle could roll into another vehicle, a structure, or an individual.  Although notification will be provided to affected parties at the end of next month, there currently are not parts sufficient to take care of the issue.  Thus, owners will have to wait for a second alert before they’re able to bring the vehicles in for free repairs.
