16,000 Air Pistols Recalled By Crosman Over Explosion Threat

Posted on September 6, 2013

The Bloomfield, New York-based Crosman Corporation has announced the recall of 16,000 air pistols due to a potential explosion risk.  These semi-automatic items shoot BBs by way of a CO2 cartridge.  When these cartridges reach sufficiently high temperatures, an explosion becomes a possibility.  This can send pieces of the pistol flying into the air, possibly striking a user’s eyes or causing other types of injuries.  No such incidents have been reported at this time, and to ensure that continues, owners are being asked to cease usage.  The CO2 cartridge should be taken away to further mitigate the threat.  The company can be contacted for a new product.  The air pistols were available across the country between last November and this past June.
