Preparations Recalled By San Diego Company Over Sterility Fears

Posted on September 9, 2013

Multiple preparations are being recalled by the San Diego, California-based University Compounding Pharmacy due to a potential shortfall in sterility.  The recall comes on the heels of the revelation that the third-party lab tasked with testing for sterility of these products may have engaged in practices that call into question the viability of that confirmation.  No one has reported getting sick in conjunction with any of the recalled products, but contact with a substance lacking the proper sterility could pose a serious and possibly fatal infection threat.  Seven lots in total are being recalled, and they were available around the country.  The recall affects Testosterone CYP (Sesame Oil), PGE-1 NS, and Testosterone Cypionate/Testosterone Proprionate.
