Take Precautions Near Pigs To Reduce The Threat of Swine Flu

Posted on August 7, 2013

A new report focuses on how persons headed to state fairs can prevent the spread of swine flu, and the advice would be applicable anytime one comes into contact with pigs.  First, young children and older adults, as well as certain other susceptible demographics, might think twice before going to areas that are going to have numerous pigs on hand.  If you are brought into contact with pigs, make sure that you wash your hands thoroughly after the fact.  In the meantime, keep your hands away from your face, and also refrain from taking a beverage or some kind of food in to the pen with you.  If you’re bringing children, make sure that a responsible adult waits outside so that they can watch over their toys and other items, which shouldn’t be brought into contact with pigs either.
