CHP Stresses Car Seat Safety In Bakersfield

Posted on August 5, 2013

This past weekend, the city of Bakersfield benefitted from an event that sought to spread awareness about the proper way to strap a child in to a safety seat in a vehicle.  The California Highway Patrol was on hand for the Saturday event, which found numerous parents arriving to pepper representatives of the agency with questions about proper installation.  At the same time, officers were available to look over the car seats in parents’ vehicles and instruct about any alterations that might improve safety.  The CHP noted that four out of five seats aren’t properly placed in a vehicle.  Officers also pointed out that parents should pay particular attention to seat size and the instructions in the owner’s manual.
