California Trying To Rein In Rampant Distraction Among Drivers

A new report takes a look at the state of distracted driving in California and what agencies like the California Highway Patrol are attempting to do to cut down on the threat.  One CHP officer pointed to the prevalence of the activity when she’s in her personal car, saying that many people simply believe they won’t be spotted.  The CHP visits schools throughout the state to reinforce the idea that texting and driving and cellphone usage can be deadly at the wheel.  The CHP’s endeavor has the backing of various insurance agencies, many of which are willing to lower the insurance premiums for teens who submit to the campaign’s teachings and requirements.
