Teen Cellphone Ban Could Following Texting Ban In Florida

Posted on August 23, 2013

Earlier this year, Florida finally made a move to ban texting while at the wheel, but lawmakers aren’t done trying to push through legislation targeting distracted driving.  A Boca Raton-based State Representative has now proposed a measure that would make it illegal for a minor to use their cellphone to carry on a conversation while driving.  Although the law won’t actually be debated until at least March of next year, it would join a ban on texting set to go into effect at the beginning of October if eventually passed.  The texting ban has caught flack from some because of the myriad concessions it contains; not only has texting at the wheel been designated as a secondary offense, but a driver is still allowed to text if they’re stopped at a red light.
