Lead Risk Prompts Recall of Ginger Candy By San Jose Company

Posted on August 7, 2013

A potential lead threat has prompted the recall of Ginger Candy by the San Jose-based Evershing International Trading.  The California Department of Health reportedly enlightened the company as to the heightened levels of lead at the end of July, leading to this recall of eight and 12 ounce products imported from the Vietnam-based Lucky Shing Company.  The products, which are under the Coconut Tree Brand, could endanger children and pregnant women due to their elevated levels of lead that go beyond state regulations.  Those who know they have consumed these products are being advised to speak with a doctor to determine the best course of action to prevent possible injury.
