4,458 Grand Cherokees Recalled By Chrysler Due to Crash Risk

Posted on July 16, 2013

4,458 Grand Cherokee automobiles of the 2014 model year have been recalled by Chrysler due to a potential issue with the parking lamps.  These non-SRT trimmed vehicles could experience electrical spikes when alternating from parking to running lights or vice versa.  These spikes could lead the parking lamps to not illuminate, a condition that could imperil other automobile operators’ ability to deduce the vehicle owner’s driving intentions.  As a result, the vehicle fails to meet federal standards and a crash hazard is posed.  The recall will start next month, at which point owners can expect to receive some kind of notification from Chrysler.  A free software update from dealers should take care of the problem.
