Throttle Issue Leads Aston Martin to Recall 689 Vehicles

Posted on June 11, 2013

Virage, Rapide, DB9, and V8 and V12 Vantage vehicles produced between May 2012 and this past April are being recalled by Aston Martin because of an issue that could compromise safety.  On an estimated 689 of these vehicles, a break is possible in the throttle pedal arm thanks to an apparent shortfall in the production process.  In the midst of driving, the vehicle could then return to idle mode unexpectedly.  This situation can imperil the driver’s ability to alter their speed and thus the threat of a crash becomes more apparent.  There has been no indication as to when the recall will start, but once it does, contact will be made by Aston Martin and owners will be able to bring the automobiles in to a dealer to receive replacement components.
