The Seattle, Washington-based Ideations DiveAlert has announced the recall of 2,500 scuba diving signaling devices under the DiveAlert PLUS and DiveAlert brands. When a diver encounters some type of emergency, the device is supposed to emit a loud noise on the surface or a repercussive blast in the water. On affected devices, a malfunction could impede the diver’s ability to draw air, and thus the user would be in danger of drowning. No one has reportedly been injured at this point due to the occurrence, and to ensure that continues, the items should be brought back for free repairs. The product were available across the country between July 2009 and last month.
