Newport Beach Releases Distracted Driving Crackdown Results

Posted on May 8, 2013

Results are pouring in from last month’s Distracted Driving Enforcement Operation carried out all across California as part of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and this time it’s the Newport Beach Police Department sharing their success.  Over the course of April, officers issued 510 tickets to persons caught texting or using a handheld cellphone to carry on a conversation at the wheel.  In a bid to make sure that drivers understand the danger now that April is over, Newport PD intends to continue cracking down on drivers who engage in the habit for the remainder of the year.  They will combine these efforts with various education initiatives.
