Inadvertent Shifting Risk Leads Triumph to Recall Motorcycles

Posted on May 31, 2013

Speed Triple Motorcycles of the 2012 and 2013 model years that have Anti Lock Brake systems are being recalled by Triumph Motorcycles because of an issue that could create inappropriate shifting.  349 motorcycles could potentially impacted by an improper detent spring in the transmission.  If this faulty component is in place, a rider might find his or her bike shifting gears while in transit without they themselves initiating the action.  The threat of a crash then becomes greater.  The recall should start at some point in June, so owners should be on the lookout for a notification from Triumph soon.  A new detent spring will be provided by dealers at no cost to owners who bring their vehicles in.
