Texas may not be getting a texting and driving ban anytime soon, but that is not the case in Florida. Today, the Governor will sign a bill that outlaws texting and driving. A violation will be considered a secondary offense, meaning that some other infraction must first be committed prior to an officer initiating a traffic stop. Himself a grandfather, the governor of Florida explained that the issue of texting and driving is very important to him. And with the summer being perhaps the deadliest time of the year, he thought that the post-Memorial Day period would be the best possible time to sign the measure into law.
