AT & T’s “It Can Wait” Program Gains Some Big Supporters

Posted on May 14, 2013

For awhile now, AT & T has been putting forth an initiative called “It Can Wait” which aims to cut down on distracted driving all around the country.  Teens are the main target of the campaign, which involves a messages across a host of different mediums.  The campaign brings texting simulators around the country, hosts presentations and documentaries about distracted driving’s consequences, and offers ads further dedicated to warning about distraction.

Now, the telegiant has announced a marked expansion of their efforts.  This year, AT & T will be joined by Spring, T-Mobile, and Verizon, as well as hundreds of other entities to further the ends of “It Can Wait.”  Thanks to the efforts of these companies, advertisements focused on relating real-life stories of those affected by texting at the wheel will be featured across a wide swath of mediums (television, radio, the internet) throughout the summer.

This multimillion dollar campaign will also ask message recipients to go to the It Can Wait website to sign a pledge tasking them with never again texting and driving.  In addition, phone manufacturers like Samsung and HTC will be making the DriveMode anti-texting app a standard part of all AT & T phones.

It’s great to see companies enacting efforts which aim to warn people about the dangers inherent in texting at the wheel.
