Petaluma Police Release Results of Distracted Driving Crackdown

Posted on May 3, 2013

Now that California’s statewide crackdown on distracted driving in the month of April has drawn to a close, the results from that operation have begun to roll in.  In Petaluma, the police department issued a total of 417 tickets to persons who were distracted at the wheel.  Not surprisingly, the majority of those were for cellphone usage, with 89 people being cited for texting at the wheel and another 327 targeted for talking on their phones.  The remaining ticket was given to a cellphone-using individual under the age of 18.  The Petaluma Police Department also wants to stress the fact that they won’t become lenient on cellphone usage now that Distracted Driving Awareness Month is over.
