Salmonella Risk Prompts Recall of Tahini Sesame Paste By Krinos

Posted on May 1, 2013

Testing by the Michigan Department of Agriculture has revealed the presence of Salmonella in a sample of TAHINI Sesame Paste from the Long Island City, New York-based Krinos Foods.  As a result, the company has announced the recall of the product.  The recall affects that TAHINI which came in a one or two pound jar with an expiration date of either October 16, 2014 or March 15, 2015.  If an individual is exposed to Salmonella, they could suffer a host of issues, such as vomiting, nausea, fever, and in certain susceptible demographics, more serious complications.  No such reports have been made at this time, and consumers are being asked to continue that track record by getting rid of the items and sending the gold cap with the expiration date emblazoned upon it to Krinos for a refund.
