Laceration Risk Prompts Recall of 148,700 Lasagna Pans Sold at Target

Posted on April 24, 2013

The threat of a breakage has prompted the recall of a cooking item that was only available at Target.  With multiple incidents already coming to the fore and hundreds of thousands of units potential privy to the defect, consumers should read on and take action at once if they know themselves to be in possession of the item.

The Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Target Corporation and the Woodbridge, Illinois-based Wilton Industries announced the recall, which pertains to 9 by 13 inch ceramic Lasagna Pans under the Giada De Laurentiis brand.  The pans are cream in color and will have a stamp with the words “Giada De Laurentiis by Target.”  They were sold from January 2009 to October of last year as individual units or as part of a six-piece set.

148,700 of these items could suffer from a defect wherein the pan is in danger of breaking.  When this occurs, the sharp edges that crop up could lead the user to sustain a laceration.  Already half a dozen people have reported experiencing some kind of cut in conjunction with the pans, while another 33 reports of cracking or breakage without an ensuing injury have also become known.

To make sure you don’t add another incident to that list, please cease cooking with these pans at once.  Instead, bring the item back to Target to get your money back.
