The CEO of ADEPT Driver has released an editorial in the Contra Costa Times calling upon lawmakers at the California state level to ban voice-activated texting while driving. He points to recent studies that highlight the danger that’s present even when such hands-free messaging is carried out. Even though the individual’s hands remain on the wheel, their mind is on the message they’re sending. And when the message is complete, the driver has to look down for more than two seconds to confirm its accuracy. The National Safety Council and various other safety advocacy groups have announced their support for the hands-free texting ban, which should be considered soon.
