855 Explorer Vehicles Recalled Over Potential Fire Threat

Posted on April 24, 2013

Explorer Limited SE and Explorer vehicles of the 2013 model year have been recalled by the Explorer Van Company.  855 vehicles are affected by the announcement, which pertains to only those vehicles that utilize a Chevy Express or GMC Savana chassis.  Secured placement of the wiring harness that provides power to the seat heating circuit and adjuster cannot be assured, a condition which could lead to the component making its way into the seat rider mechanism.  This could prompt the severing of wires which can then short circuit, creating a potential fire hazard.  On May 17, the recall is set to start, at which point owners can expect to hear from Explorer.  Free repairs will be given to such persons by dealers.
