7,500 Propane Cylinders Recalled Over Fuel Leak Risk

Posted on April 10, 2013

The threat of a fire has led the Elkhart, Indiana-based Manchester Tank & Equipment Company to recall 100 pound propane cylinders produced between January and September of last year.  Each of the 7,500 or so affected canisters are 42 inches tall and 15 inches wide, and they have a collar listing the water capacity as “WC238#.”  The thread connection from the valve to the cylinder is in danger of sustaining a leak, potentially leading fuel to emanate.  This fuel leak could create a blaze if an open flame is found in the vicinity of the escaping fuel.  No such instances have been reported yet.  Owners are being advised to set up an inspection of the propane cylinders by a certified professional.  The items were available across the country all through last year and up until this past March.
