700 VNL and VHD Vehicles Recalled By Volvo Over Fire Threat

Posted on April 25, 2013

VNL and VHD vehicles of the 2011 through 2013 model years have been recalled by Volvo Trucks North America because of a potential issue with the piston parking brake chamber.  The MGM Type 24 J-Series components on just over 700 of these vehicles could emanate pressure, a condition which could prompt dragging of the parking brake even when said brake isn’t activated.  This can cause parts of the brake to overheat, placing the vehicle in danger of suffering a blaze.  On June 17, the recall is set to start, and owners should hear from Volvo.  Free replacement of the potentially affected chambers will then be carried out.
